27-28 Oct 2025: AGF hosting the annual meeting of ICCFR in Berlin

ICCFR

On 1.5 days AGF hosted the meeting of the International Commission on Couple and family Relations (ICCFR) .

Prof. Dr. Angela Abela (University of Malta) opened the meeting with an interesting and inspiring input on today’s challenges for families. She mentioned demographic trends, family poverty, gender issues, the ravages of war, the climate change and social media and artificial intelligence. The input gave a lot of food for the following fruitful discussions.

ICCFR engages organisations and individuals involved in couple and family therapy, social work, research, family and social policy and the law in interdisciplinary dialogue about couple and family relations. It aims to:

  • Advocating for the enhancement of sustainable economic, social and cultural conditions for families in all their diversity
  • Facilitating forward-looking, creative and innovative debate that encompasses science, economics, legal and social matters, politics and culture
  • Safeguarding the interests of children and vulnerable family members
  • Respecting different sets of values and perspectives and advocating non-discrimination and equal opportunities among individuals and different family forms
  • Supporting intergenerational as well as intercultural engagement and understanding

AGF has been supporting ICCFR for several years.
