AGF Statement on the future of the federal ‘Mother and Child – Protection of Unborn Life’ Foundation

The Association of German Family Organisations (AGF) has issued a statement on the draft to amend the law that regulates the federal ‘Mother and Child – Protection of Unborn Life’ Foundation.

In this statement, the AGF particularly welcomes the proposed permanent statutory guarantee of the foundation’s funding base. The expansion of the board of trustees to include a representative from the Federal Foundation for Early Intervention is also viewed positively. However, the AGF suggests that, the funding should be supplemented by an adjustment clause to account for inflation or changes in demand.
Additionally, the proposed regulations regarding the full repayment of unspent funds are viewed critically. This should be reconsidered in order to permanently safeguard the Foundation’s ability to act as a flexible emergency aid instrument. The AGF sees the need of keeping the flexibility to be able to respond to short-term increases in demand – even when these run counter to the annual cycle of the federal budget.

The AGF is represented on the Board of Trustees of the “Mutter und Kind” Foundation and has been actively supporting the Foundation’s work for many years.
