[31.10.2019] At the general meeting on Oct. 29, 2019, Daniela Jaspers was unanimously elected chairwoman of the Association of German Family Organizations (AGF). Ms. Jaspers has been chairwoman of the Association of Single Mothers and Fathers, Bundesverband e.V. since June 2019, which is the AGF’s lead organization for 2019 and 2020. Vice chairman of the AGF reamins Ulrich Hoffmann, president of the Family Federation of Catholics.
“I am looking forward to the cooperation of the family organizations in the AGF,” Daniela Jaspers emphasizes on taking office. “The success of the cooperation can be seen very recently, among other things, in a discussion paper on digitalization and the family, as we just adopted today.”
The new chair sees the expansion of daycare for children of primary school age as another important upcoming topic: “We will discuss this tomorrow at an AGF event with experts from politics, science, schools and after-school care centers. From our point of view, the question of high quality will play a major role. After all, parents must be able to rely on the needs-based nature and quality of care – regardless of where they live and what type of family they have.”
Ms. Jaspers expects another focus within the scope of her leadership to be European and international work: “The German EU Council Presidency is coming up in the second half of 2020 and will also play a major role in the AGF. Here we can build on the already successful work of the AGF in the European and international context, especially in cooperation with “COFACE Families Europe” and the “International Commission on Couple and Family Relations”.
